TIFF exposure, award open doors for young filmmaking duo

Amy got 405 friend requests on Facebook. Maybe she is getting support for her breakup. Or perhaps people just want to know her better. Point is, that’s a lot of attention for a person who doesn’t exist. She’s a character in Noah, a 17-minute short film co-written and co-directed by 22-year-olds Patrick Cederberg and Walter Woodman. The flick was awarded Best Canadian Short Film at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Film festival showcases filmmakers’ stories in less than a minute

Jordan Di Lella took one day of pre-production, one day of shooting and several days of editing to make a one-minute silent film. In 2010, Di Lella and his partner Chris Noble entered the Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) for the first time. “We thought our film had a certain level of professionalism and quality to it,” he said. “It doesn’t mean the panel is thinking anywhere near that expectation.”
