Save a gorilla by recycling a cell phone
Help raise money to save gorillas by bringing old cell phones to the Toronto Zoo. ECO-CELL, a green cell phone recycling and fundraising company has partnered up with the Toronto Zoo to help its conservation programs. Depending on the type of the cell phone donated, ECO-CELL will give the Toronto Zoo 45 cents to $15 dollars per phone. www.torontozoo.com.
Bring a valentine for a furry friend at the Zoo
Children who have a favourite animal at the zoo can bring them a valentine on Feb. 9 or 10 and receive free admission when accompanied by an adult (2 children, 12 and under, per adult). The Education Auditorium will also have activities that the family can enjoy.
Keeping Toronto Green
Know someone who has a green thumb and has provided environmental leadership in the Malvern, West Hill, Highland Creek communities? Then nominate them for the annual Green Toronto Awards. Help celebrate leading companies, organizations and individuals who contribute to environmental initiatives in their communities. Each winner will receive a $5,000 contribution for a registered charity of their choice, recognition at an event in City Hall and a profile in the Toronto media. Annual Orchid Charity Ball
