Man charged with murder of Scarborough youth

Mohmed Ahmed Nakhuda is no longer a wanted man.

The 36-year-old of no fixed address was arrested on Kingston Road near Eglinton Avenue and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Scarborough man last month.

Police say 21-year-old Jonathan Rodrigues was answering the door of a house at Golfhaven Drive, near Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East, when he was gunned down on Feb. 22 around 9:40 p.m.

Security camera footage showed about six men fleeing the scene in two vehicles. They were last seen driving south on Mossbank Avenue.

Nakhuda appeared at the Old City Hall court last week, but investigators are still searching for information about the other men who fled the Golfhaven Drive home.

“They might be in the Scarborough area,” Detective Mike Carbone says. “We are appealing with anyone who has information to please come forward.”

Carbone urges witnesses to contact police at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.

Rodrigues’ death marked the city’s eighth homicide of 2008.
