Keeping Halloween safe:
The Rogers Pumpkin Patrol will return for the 24th year this Halloween. More than 350 volunteers, including a number on our local streets, will drive red Rogers vans around the city to keep an extra eye on trick-or-treaters.

Public speaking workshop:
Morningside Library is running a Toastmasters Youth Leaders workshop on Nov. 4. Teens will develop their public speaking skills, gain confidence, and learn to organize and chair meetings. 416-396-8881.

A Night to Remember:

Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care at 37 Mid-Dominion Acres will host A Night to Remember on Nov. 6 in celebration of local veterans. Pickering-Scarborough East MP Dan McTeague will host the event that focuses on connecting youth and those who served in Canada’s military. Tickets are $100. Contact Chantal Ferris at 416-284-3333

Affordable music lessons for children
Scarborough Bluffs United Church, Kingston and Scarborough Golf Club roads, is offering music classes to children from senior kindergarten to Grade 8. The cost ranges from $2 to $7 and is subsidized by the church. 416-266-8352.

Trust fund for murder victim’s daughter
An educational trust fund at TD Canada Trust has been set up for Sarah Ann John, daughter of east Scarborough’s Susan John – a woman who was murdered on Oct.13. Donations can be made to the Church of South India in trust, or mailed to CSI Church, 1104-17 Knightsbridge Rd., Brampton L6T 3X9
