Scarborough Scrooge reading to benefit local refugees

A local refugee family will benefit from a public reading of a Christmas Carol on Dec. 12.

The event will take place at the Scarborough Bluffs United Church at 3739 Kingston Road at 3 p.m.

There will also be a reading at Birchcliff Bluffs United Church at 33 East Road at 7 p.m. to support another charity, the Churches By The Bluffs Community Services Food Bank.

The stories will be read by known voices like broadcaster Jane Hawtin, singer Lori Cullin, folk singer Don Gray, and former television reporter, Leon Korbee.

Korbee has done readings of A Christmas Carol for 11 years in a row.

Tickets are about $10 to $15 and can be purchased at the door.
