Canadian short track team advances

Canadians Oliver Jean, Guillaume Bastille, Charles Hamelin and Francois-Louis Tremblay competed in the short track speed skating 5000m relay on Wednesday, just falling short of winning their semi-final.

The Chinese team beat Canada by 0.09 of a second, so close an onlooker could barely tell which country won.

“The idea was to just keep it clean, stay out of trouble and be conservative,” Hamelin said to CTV.  “it felt good to get back out there, I felt solid today.” Stated Bastille.

The Canadians has been training together for over a year and will be a competitive team when they race for a medal on February 26th.

The team, though did not win their semi-final were happy to make it through with no injuries or falls.

The Canadian crew finished with a time of 6:43.610, advancing them to the final, which experts predict will bring forth a medal.
