Swiss’ Marty scores 4, China loses once more

The women of Switzerland over powered the women from China in their hockey classification game Saturday evening, beating them 6-0.  Forward Stefanie Marty continued her scoring streak by scoring four goals tonight, giving her 7 in the past two games.

Swiss Goaltender Florence Schelling stopped all 21 Chinese shots, getting her second victory of the tournament.

Kathrin Lehmann opened the scoring up for Switzerland and then added three assists to her stats.  Lucrece Nussbaum scored the other Swiss goal and the four goal scorer Marty also got an assist, making it a five point night for the Swiss’s leading scorer in the tournament.

China goaltender Shi Yao was pulled by the coach after allowing two goals in 52 seconds and as she left the ice she threw her towards her own bench.

The loss gives China a 0-4 record in the tournament and will play the loser of Russia/Slovakia game to determine the seventh and eighth place teams.  The Swiss will play the winner of that game to determine the fifth and sixth place in the tournament.
