Exhibition high school football gets underway this coming week with the highlight a number of games between the heavily stacked tier one south/west region and the Catholic board’s best teams.

There will be 16 games in total (eight senior and eight junior), many featuring teams favoured to represent the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association in the Metro Bowl.

Action begins Thursday at 1 p.m. in the junior division as North Toronto goes to Lawrence Park and Central Tech goes to Leaside.

At 2 p.m., Senator O’Connor Blues host Sir John A. Macdonald, while Charminade College School travels to Forest Hill to take on the Falcons.

Lawrence Park hosts North Toronto, Central Tech is at Leaside, while West Hill Collegiate travels to Martingrove Collegiate, with all three games starting at 2:30.

Friday will feature the two strongest football programs in the school board, as Birchmount Park Collegiate, and Northern Secondary (the top two ranked schools in TDSSAA the last three years) are both in action.

In the junior division, Northern hosts East York Collegiate, West Hill travels to Sir Wilfred Laurier, and Richview will host Weston (with all games starting at 1 pm).

Finally, in the senior division, Agincourt hosts Senator O’Connor at 2 p.m.  Then at 2:30, Northern hosts East York, the TDSSAA defending champion Birchmount Park seniors head to Laurier, and Richview hosts Weston.

By next weekend, this year’s Metro Bowl contenders should have begun to make a name for themselves.
