Scarborough man pleads guilty to killing wife and daughters

A Scarborough man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife and daughters. Bao Mac attended court on November 23 to plead guilty to three counts of second-degree murder.

The 49-year-old man shot his wife Zu Ling He, his 22-year-old stepdaughter Jenny, and his four-year-old daughter Lisa.

The court heard the family was suffering from domestic issues as Mac’s wife was threatening divorce, and his daughter Jenny was dating against his wishes.

Testimony stated Mac forced his wife and youngest daughter into a van in the garage of their Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road home and shot each in the head with a revolver. He also shot his stepdaughter when she returned home a few hours later.

The bodies were driven in the van to a dead-end road in King Township where the van was doused with gasoline and set on fire.

The court has not yet determined if Mac will be eligible for parole. However, second-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence. The sentencing hearing in January will allow family members to give their victim impact statements.
