Sketch of man requesting cyanide at UTSC released

Toronto police have released a sketch of a young man who asked for potassium cyanide at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus.

The man visited the campus twice asking for the lethal chemical, according to police.

He reportedly first entered the Sciences and Research building on Nov. 15, and left before police arrived. Then on Jan. 10 around noon, the man appeared in the same location asking a professor for the chemical.

He left after the professor said he did not have any, police said.

The man is described as being in his late teens, thin with short black hair and 5-foot-8.

According to Health Canada, single oral doses of 50 to 200 milligrams of cyanide have killed people before.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4367 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
