Police advise caution after violent sex assault in Guildwood Park

Police are warning the public to be careful after a violent sexual assault in Scarborough’s Guildwood Park last week.

A woman, 44, was walking through the park near Livingston Road last Thursday just after 9:30 p.m. when a man approached her from behind, police said.

The man allegedly pulled a knife and threatened the woman before knocking her unconscious, police said. She awoke several hours later and contacted police.

Police describe the suspect as 6-feet with a lean build and an olive complexion. He was wearing a beige jacket with a white stripe and a black toque, police said.

Pedestrians should always be aware of their surroundings, Const. Tony Vella said.

“Stay in well-lit areas and walk with confidence,” he said. “If you notice anything suspicious, call police.”
