Former public school, Timothy Eaton BTI, in the Warden and Finch Ave area of northwest Scarborough was approved by city council to become a new community hub.
The hub will be owned and operated by the YMCA.
Tentative plans expect the centre to cost around $29-million and include a guarantee that the building cannot be sold for at least 20 years.
