With over 80 per cent of the polls in, Lorenzo Berardinetti has won his bid for re-election in Scarborough-Southwest, receiving over 44 per cent of the vote.
NDP candidate Bruce Budd is in second place with over 31 per cent of the vote.
“I feel a sense of accomplishment, happiness sense of relief because you always do worry during the campaign — I grateful,” Berardinetti told supporters at his victory celebration Oct. 6.
“I couldn’t have done it myself — there was no way. I needed help. And I got help,” he said, introducing his team.
Berardinetti is “a people person,” his campaign volunteer Doris Ward told the Observer at the victory party.
“He supports his wife [Michelle Berardinetti], but that doesn’t mean he supports her ideals.”
Michelle Berardinetti was elected city councillor for the area last year and was considered a supporter of Rob Ford for Toronto mayor.
