Investors Group to host testamentary trust talk

Planning for your future is never easy.

What career path should I follow? What house can I afford to buy? Where do I want to live? How many children do I want?

With a million questions that need to be answered, we often forget to address the most important one: what will happen to my family after I’m gone?

Scarborough residents have the opportunity to tackle this hard-hitting question next week as Investors Group is hosting a seminar dedicated to testamentary trusts. The event promises to provide attendees with peace of mind as well as estate planning tools for family members.

A testamentary trust, or will trust, is arguably one of the most important documents left for family members after the passing of a loved one. The trust is generally used to specify the assets a person has accumulated over their lifetime and directs who will receive them.

College student and Scarborough resident Sean Edwards says it’s never too early to learn about trusts and hopes he and his family can attend the event.

“My family has gone over [testamentary trusts] with my siblings and me but I still want to learn more about it,” he said.

The seminar is set to take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Village Roaster at 3452 Kingston Rd. For more information about the event, call 905-542-3124 ext. 340.
