Scarborough Minor Football Association coach Roberto Allen was named runner up for the 2011 NFL Youth Coach of the Year Award.

The first place spot went to Rick Gilson, a football coach for Grande Prairie Composite High School in Alberta.

Gilson and his team received $5,000 in new football gear while Allen will receive $2,000 in equipment.

NFL Denver Bronco player Orlando Franklin nominated Allen for the award and says he was first introduced to football because of him.

More than 600 submissions were received and more than 400 coaches from across Canada were nominated.
