12B bus brought back to Kingston Road

Published on

After a couple of absent months, last Sunday, the 12B bus made a triumphant return back to Kingston Road.

The bus was taken away last May when Variety Village got its own bus stop and the 12A route was added. The new route, however, removed some stops along Kingston Road, which aggravated many riders, some of whom are senior citizens and/or have disabilities.

A petition was started and 350 names were collected to have the bus restored. The petition was received by Scarborough Southwest Coun. Gary Crawford, where the route is located. He brought the issue to TTC chair Karen Stintz and the TTC resolved the issue.

On the weekends when the 12 bus no longer runs, there will be a bus called the 12B that will serve the missing portion on Kingston Road.

“One bus will go along Kingston Road and the other one will go along Birchmount and Danforth,” said Isaac Ransom, the executive assistant to Crawford.

The 12B runs every 36 minutes in the day and every 40 minutes at night.
