Police bust drug operation in Scarborough

Toronto police have seized $500,000 worth of marijuana and grow-op equipment after executing a search warrant at a home near Hwy. 401 and Morningside Avenue on Jan. 30.

Police say approximately 500 marijuana plants were found.

According to police, the grow-op was soil-based and equipped with hydro and water bypasses.

The water and power at the home was shut off by Toronto Hydro-Electric Service.

Police determined the residence to be in violation of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, after a safety inspection was completed by Toronto Fire Services.

No arrests have been made at this time.
