Walk to save our livers

March for Liver will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 17, 2013 at Scarborough Town Centre.

The Canadian Liver Foundation is bringing Scarborough to its feet with its fundraising event this weekend.

March for Liver, which falls on St. Patrick’s Day, is an indoor fundraising walk at Scarborough Town Centre for all ages and fitness levels.

Organizers hope to not only raise funds for liver disease research but also increase public knowledge.

“1 in 10 Canadians have a form of liver disease, and many do not know they have it until it is too late,” says Marsha Doucette, Toronto regional coordinator for the Canadian Liver Foundation. “We need Canadians to recognize the liver as an important organ.

“With over 100 different forms of liver disease, we need to find out more about this organ in order to find cures.”
