Scarborough is about to get its Bollywood on as the second annual Toronto Mela kicks off Saturday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Albert Campbell Square.
Mela, hosted by the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians, is a family event featuring food, merchandise vendors, service providers and a free children’s play area.
Performances, beginning at 4 p.m., include ethnic dances and musical performances in Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil and Bangla.
The event is an opportunity for community building with the best the culture has to offer, according to event coordinator Dr. Mahbub Hasan.
“We are pleased to have great support from the different segments of the society for this unique event,” he said.
