They’ve danced their way onto the TV screens of Canadian families.
On Oct. 19, hundreds of kids and parents filled the Scarborough Town Centre square to see them in person.
The cast of the Family Channel’s hit TV show The Next Step brought their cross-country tour — called the The Next Step: Hit the Floor Tour — to the busy mall.
Michelle (Victoria Baldesarra), Riley (Brittany Raymond), James (Trevor Tordjman), Eldon (Isaac Lupien), Chloe (Jennifer Pappas) and West (Lamar Johnson) from the teen drama/reality TV series were on-hand to meet their fans.
The tour is set to end Oct. 27 in Vancouver, B.C.

At 10:30 a.m. the mall was already ready to host the dancers.
The kids were not about to get up from their spot for fear of losing their chance of enjoying the show. By noon, the mall was crowded. People were packed close together and the anticipation built. Some fans came from Oshawa, where the six members of The Next Step cast performed their first show earlier in the morning.
Some parents weren’t happy about the way the show had been organized and the way the event had been advertised on the web. “On the Scarborough Town and Family Channel websites it says that the doors open at 9:30 a.m. and wristbands are given out at 12 p.m.,” said Debbie Leah, one of the parents present at the event. “When we got here I found out that stamps were given out to get the the wristbands at 6 a.m. My kids are upset as well. They watch the show, we got tickets for their concert. It’s not like a onetime thing.”
Other kids, though, didn’t seem to mind and were determined to enjoy the free show.
At 2 p.m., the crowd of excited fans was finally able to see who they had been waiting to see. Michelle (Victoria Baldesarra) Riley, (Brittany Raymond) James, (Trevor Tordjman) Eldon, (Isaac Lupien) Chloe (Jennifer Pappas) and West (Lamar Johnson) star in the teen drama/reality TV series.
After a quick introduction, the music was turned up and the dancers started their performance.
The six members of the cast paired up and performed their routine.
The performance captivated the audience. Photos and videos were taken by many parents under their children’s strict orders.
At the end of the performance a Q&A session took place and Lamar Johnson, known on the show as West, told the crowd his hometown is Scarborough, which the crown enjoyed hearing.
The day ended with an autograph signing session for the first 200 fans.
The tour is scheduled to wrap up in Vancouver, B.C., at Metropolis at Metrotown on Oct. 27.
