Cops arrest 3, seize 1,125 pot plants in grow-op investigation

Police arrested three men and seized more than 1,000 marijuana plants after searching a pair of commercial units and a home.

On Nov. 13, Toronto’s drug squad executed two search warrants in the Midland Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area.

Police say a large marijuana grow-op was located within the two units. Nearly 1,000 plants were found in the alleged grow-op, which was being expanded to house 500 more plants, police say.

Later the same day, police executed another pair of related search warrants at a home in the Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue East area.

Police seized another 125 small marijuana plants, which they say may have been destined for the expanded grow-op in the commercial units.

Vinh Luong, 64, Kai Hua Lin, 44 and Haishi Lu, 51, all of Toronto, face charges of producing marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The men were set to appear in court Nov. 14.
