SIU investigating incident involving York Regional officer

An 18-year-old woman died yesterday after being struck by a York Regional police car near Warden and St. Clair avenues on Feb. 12.

Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating the incident since it involves a police officer, according to the SIU website.

The female, whose name has not been released, was crossing St. Clair, west of Warden, at about 8:30 p.m. when she was struck, according to the SIU.

The SIU reports she was struck by an unmarked vehicle driven by an on-duty regional police officer, whose name has also not been released.

Seven investigators have been assigned to investigate the incident, the SIU says.
