Open practice for Leafs at Greenwood

Fans surround rink in east-end park

Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier guards the net in front of a crowd at a public practice in East Toronto on Feb. 21.

The Toronto Maple Leafs held an open practice at Greenwood Park Rink at Dundas Street East and Greenwood Avenue on Feb. 21.

Olympians Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk and Nikolai Kulemin were, of course, absent for the practice.

The outdoor rink was completely surrounded by spectators, mostly kids from the nearby elementary schools.

The practice started at 10 in the morning, and ended at 11, giving people enough time to catch the Canada vs. USA Men’s Hockey game in Sochi, which took place at noon.
