VIDEO: CAMH doctors demonstrate new techniques to combat mental health issues

Through non-invasive techniques, they show that the brain can be re-wired

On Wednesday February 19, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) held a Cafe Scientifique at the Gladstone Hotel called “Rewiring the Brain: New Possibilities for Mental Health?”

Dr. Albert Wong, a research scientist from CAMH, was joined by Dr. Tarek Rajji, the Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at CAMH and by Marie Ascuncion, who is a survivor of psychosis. She struggled with mental illness as a teenager.

Through a series of demonstrations and question and answer periods, the three explained that it is possible to achieve a healthy state of mind through non-invasive techniques, without the aid of heavy prescription medications.

Toronto Observer TV’s Christine Hogg was there, and has the story.
