Public meeting tonight on downtown relief line

Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church hosts a meeting on the hot topic

The public is invited to a Metrolinx meeting on the contentious downtown relief line tonight.

The meeting comes as Toronto mayoral candidates have amped up the rhetoric surrounding the future of public transit in Toronto and its suburbs.

The much-discussed relief line would mean years of construction and billions of dollars in costs. Some downtown councillors continue to insist, however, Toronto must modernize to take pressure off the Yonge line at peak hours.

Tonight’s meeting will take place 6 to 9 p.m. at  the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church at 10066 Yonge St.

The public forum will shift back downtown after tonight, with the Holy Name Parish in East York hosting a meeting Saturday morning.
