A man has been sentenced for his role in the Danzig Street shooting spree of July 2012 that’s been called Toronto’s worst mass shooting.
Nahom Tsegazab, one of the four men charged in the shooting, appeared in court on April 11 and pleaded guilty to manslaughter and six counts of aggravated assault.
He was originally charged with second degree-murder and 22 counts of aggravated assault.
The Danzig Street shooting left two people dead and 22 injured.
Shyanne Charles, 14, and Joshua Yasay, 23, were victims killed in the crossfire.
“The good thing is, we can put an end to a miserable chapter in our lives,” Tyrone Charles, grandfather of Shyanne Charles, said after the sentencing.
Police said they believe the shooting was the result of a gang dispute.
Tsegazab was sentenced to 14 years.
