Man arrested on five counts of sexual assault

Police still seeking identity of one of four victims

Police have arrested a man on five counts of sexual assault but are still seeking the identity of one of his alleged victims.

They are looking for a woman who may have been sexually assaulted by a man near Queen Street East and Church Street on April 11.

This is only one of five sexual assaults believed to have been committed by the same man, taking place between April 9 and 11.

A man was arrested on April 11 after police investigated one instance of alleged sexual assault but then they discovered  four other cases of sexual assault had taken place prior to the arrest, police say.

On April 9, a woman, 43 was walking north on Parliament near Carlton streets when she was approached from behind and sexually assaulted, they say.

On April 10, another woman, 43 was walking north in the same area when allegedly the same man followed her into a store, sexually assaulted her, and then sexually assaulted her again when she tried to leave, police say.

On April 11, a third woman, 28 was sexually assaulted near Queen and church streets, police say. She was reportedly intervening in the sexual assault of yet another woman when the man turned on her and sexually assaulted her as well, uttered threats and fled the scene.

Police are still seeking the identity of the first woman sexually assaulted on that day.

Towdros Wodajo, 56, was to appear in court on April 12 to be charged with five counts of sexual assault, two counts of uttering threats, and sexual inference.

Anyone with information leading to any of the crimes is asked to contact the Toronto Police at 416-808-5100.
