Toronto police help promote 4-week pedestrian safety program

Published on

Toronto Police are partnering with the Ontario Association of Chiefs Police and the Ministry of Transportation to begin a four-week safety education campaign regarding pedestrian safety.

The program called Walk Your Kids to School Challenge is beginning today at 9 a.m at Ledbury Park Elementary and Middle School on Falkirk Street and wraps up at 10:30 a.m., Toronto Police say in a press release.

The challenge is to see which school has the most children getting to school by walking with a parent, rather than being driven.

Along with educating schoolchildren on safety, the challenge aims to reduce traffic congestion and vehicle collisions or accidents in or near school zones, police say.
