Four men charged with stealing over 40 vehicles

Four men are facing charges Tuesday in connection with over 40 car thefts across the GTA.

York Regional Police began investigating the spate of stolen vehicles in early June. The thieves allegedly targeted imported cars in various parking lots.

Tampering with the doors and electronically manipulating the cars’ computer systems allowed them to gain access and drive off with the vehicles, police say.

Patrick Myrie, 51, of Toronto; Garth Crawford, 44, of Vaughan; Charlton Watson, 30, of Mississauga and Clayton Gordon, 37, of Brampton face four charges each: theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments and failing to comply with a recognizance.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the York Regional Police Auto/Cargo Theft Unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 6651.
