Police believe Mississauga man fled from Haiti to Canada shortly after the crime occurred

On Sept. 23, members of the Toronto Police Fugitive Squad arrested Jean Marc Murat, 43, of Mississauga, in connection with the kidnapping of two citizens, and a ransom demand.

Police say that on Oct. 16, 2012, armed individuals kidnapped a man, 23, and a woman, 22, from the area of Bourdon, Haiti.

The kidnappers confined the two, and demanded $1 million U.S. as ransom for their release.
