Yonge-Dundas has transformed into NHL face-off viewing party today.

Rain or shine, Yonge St. from Dundas St. to Queen St. completely shut down today from 10 a.m. for a full day of festivities for the annual NHL viewing party.

The event is free and will take place starting at 12 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m.

Andrew Walker, host of Sports590 show “Brandy and Walker” will also be in attendance, as they have a full lineup of shows all day, followed by a live free concert by the Tragically Hip.

“It’s a full day of celebrating hockey and getting ready for the Leafs home opener against Montreal,” Walker said. “Canada is hockey…game one of the season is so exciting because every market has a clean slate.”

Hockey lovers from all over Toronto gather today to share in the excitement for the brand new season.

The first fame of the season will be shown on a giant viewing screen at Dundas Square featuring Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Center beginning at 7:15 p.m.

The road will fully reopen at 4 a.m. on October 9; TTC Yonge buses will be diverting to Victoria St. during the closure. Motorists are advised to expect delays until route is reopened early Thursday morning.

The full schedule of day-activities can be viewed below.
