Christin Carmichael Greb has won the seat for councillor of Ward 16.

“This experience has been incredible and life changing to say the least,” Carmichael Greb said. “There are so many friends who’ve become family. I’d like to thank each and every one of you who have worked tirelessly with me.”

With no incumbent running, the race was wide open. Carmichael Greb earned 3,194 votes, ahead of Adam Tanel, with 2,683 votes. Dyanoosh Youssefi finished third with 2,448 ballots cast.

Carmichael Greb’s diverse team of volunteers and supporters filled Vita Sociale, a restaurant at Yonge and Eglinton Street on Monday night with laughter and cheering.

“It’s important that the residents know they’re being listened to and heard,” Carmichael Greb said. “My campaign has been an active campaign, so it means a lot because of blood, sweat and tears going into it and a lot of time an effort and to be able to represent the people of ward 16 is amazing.”

Carmichael Greb’s win was helped by a strong team and some heavy hitting endorsements. The newly elected mayor of Toronto John Tory supported her campaign as did Con Di Nino, a former senator, and Dr. Gordon Ching, the Chair of Go Transit and Vice-Chair of the TTC.

“We had a great amount of volunteers, we covered all of the Ward that we wanted to, so I’m very proud of the campaign run,” said Matt Hiraishi, Carmichael Greb’s campaign manager.

“She has a great mix of being vibrant and energetic,” Hirashi said. “She’s got private sector experience which I think is desperately needed at city hall. She lives in the ward so she’s invested in the community. She understands the issues because she lives them everyday.”

Carmichael Greb says she is passionate about helping the community of Ward 16. She has volunteered at various organizations including North York General Hospital and was Co-Chair of the Old Girls Executive at the Bishop Strachan School. She also raised funds for various charities and non profit organizations in Toronto.

Carmichael Greb fought against 15 other candidates and she vows to continue to serve the Ward 16 community in whatever way she can.

“It’s time to make city hall something to be proud of once again,” she said. “To be a point of pride instead of a point of ridicule, to help ensure that the city my children grow up in is even better than the one we were raised in, to support and fight for the resident of Ward 16.”
