The wrist watch is about to get an expensive update, as Apple officially unveiled the Apple Watch on March 9.
However, Toronto’s shoppers are not sold yet.
“I don’t wear a watch anyways … but I don’t really need another expensive gadget to do something I already own,” shopper Ashley Roche said. “It’s neat that it’s available but it seems like a lot of money … for an additional way to be constantly plugged-in.”
The Apple Watch certainly isn’t cheap, prices for the base model starting at $449 dollars and with the high-end version costing about $13,000.
The Apple Store was busy the day following the release of the watch. The watch will be available for pre-order on April 10.
Nick Howe, 24, keeps himself updated on the newest technologies, but does not see himself purchasing an Apple Watch.
“It’s too expensive for my taste and I just don’t see the practicality of it yet,” Howe said.
Although he isn’t sold yet, Howe remained open to having his mind changed.
“I need to see what you can do with it … really play around with it a bit,” he said.
Potential buyers will have that opportunity soon. April 10 is when the pre-sale for the Apple Watch begins.
The Apple Store will put models on display for the public use then, an Apple Sales Associate said.
