A Jian Ghomeshi sighting on Friday near the corner of Pape and Mortimer avenues in East York? Could this be the former host of CBC Radio’s Q?
The man was spotted on Friday morning by a Toronto Observer reporter near the Centennial College Story Arts Centre. The driver was waiting for a traffic light on Mortimer, heading east toward Pape. The man was wearing sunglasses and a black coat. Ghomeshi is known to drive a black Mini Cooper.
Ghomeshi was fired in October, after the CBC saw video of a sexual encounter with a woman. After other women spoke about their own encounters with him, he was charged with seven counts of sexual assault and one of overcoming resistance by choking.
His lawyer, Marie Henein, arrived alone to his last court hearing on Feb. 4 in Toronto. Henein said at the time that her client will plead not guilty to all charges.
Ghomeshi has kept a low profile since his last court hearing on Jan. 8.
His bail conditions require him to live with his mother in Thornhill, and to not leave Ontario. Ghomeshi, 47, is scheduled for his pre-trial hearing next Friday at 10 a.m.
