One dead after multiple-vehicle collision

Woman, 81, fatality in crash at Midland and Ellesmere

An 81-year-old woman was killed and two other people seriously injured in a six-vehicle collision at the intersection of Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Road on Sept. 20.

Around 8 p.m. two vehicles struck a Honda as it was making a left turn. A 65-year-old man driving the Honda was taken to hospital with his front-seat passenger. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The elderly passenger in the right-rear seat of the Honda sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two vehicles that struck the Honda were a Mercedes vehicle driven by a man, 19, and a Lincoln MKT vehicle driven by a 20-year-old-man, according to police.

Two other vehicles behind the Honda were struck by the other colliding vehicles while they were waiting to proceed northbound on Midland.
