Police cars in two accidents in one night

Two arrested for impaired driving after collisions with police

Two people have been arrested following two separate collisions, both involving Toronto police.

The first incident took place near Finch Avenue and Tobermory Drive, in the early hours of the morning. Officers had stopped to check on the occupants of a vehicle stopped on the road, according to Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook.,

“The first two officers noticed a vehicle stopped on the roadway and they stopped behind it to see if the occupants needed any assistance and well-doing, so they were rear-ended by a driver and it turns out the driver was impaired,” Const. Douglas-Cook said.

Douglas-Cook says that the two officers were both taken to hospital for minor injuries.

A second incident happened just before 3 a.m, shortly after the first accident.

Police say a police vehicle, which was blocking an intersection near Finch Avenue and Sentinel Road, was also hit.

The police car was assisting the previous incident when it was struck. Police allege the driver of the vehicle was also intoxicated. Both police officers involved in that crash were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers have been charged with impaired driving and all four officers have since been released from hospital.
