Policce warn residents in Thorncliffe-Overlea area after apartment incident

Police are warning residents in the area of Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard area to be careful after an incident where an unknown man was found in a woman’s apartment.

On Oct. 25  at 3:50 a.m. a woman was asleep in her ground floor apartment when a man had entered her apartment through an unlocked patio door, police say.

The woman awoke to find the man standing in her bedroom holding a knife.

Police say the man put the knife around her neck and his fingers to his lips, indicating  she should be quiet. He escaped the apartment through the front entrance as soon as he heard children from another residence waking up.

He is described as brown-skinned, in his late 30s, 5-foot-6, and having a thin build. He was wearing a dark leather jacket and a scarf around his neck. He is also described as having “big eyes.”

Police are advising residents to ensure their homes are properly secured at all times and to take reasonable safety precautions.
