There was no subway service between St Clair West and Downsview stations this past weekend due to signal work.
The reality of weekend maintenance work on the TTC is frustrating many commuters, particularly those who have to commute to work, as it is the fourth consecutive weekend where there has been a closure on either the 1 or 2 line.

“Nowadays public transportation is so unreliable,” commuter Eman Johar said. “I can never seem to make it to work on time on the weekend. I’m actually used to it and it’s sad the fact that I’m used to it.”
TTC spokesperson, Danny Nicholson, explains that the work window is limited during the week and this is why an entire weekend closure for parts of the subway system is necessary.
“Of course it is an inconvenience, we just advise people to give themselves a little bit of extra time,” Nicholson said.
There are three more upcoming weekend subway closures. Keele to St. George will be closed from November 7 to 8 and November 21 to 22, followed by St George to St Clair West on November 14.
