What games are hot buys this holiday season

Star Wars: Battlefront is touted as one of the most exciting Starwars games to date. 

With the holiday season fast approaching, it can be a hassle trying to figure out what to get for the video game lover in your family. To help you, this list of suggestions is broken down into three categories: Console, PC and 3DS.

Console

Starwars: Battlefront — People love Starwars, and Starwars: Battlefront puts gamers right into the action of the Starwars universe. With different game modes ranging from 8 to 40 players, Battlefront allows you to become a Jedi knight, storm trooper or even a smuggler in one of the most exciting Starwars games to date. $80

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 — This is the newest addition to the Call of Duty franchise. This game adds a refined feel to the competitive console shooter, combining elements of the advanced warfare games, and the previous Black Ops 2 mechanics.  $70

Fallout 4 — One of the most highly anticipated games of 2015. Fallout 4 is the newest in post apocalyptic RPG survival games. Turn the wasteland into your home, or just spend your time exploring – either way, the game contains weeks of fun.  $80

PC

Starwars: Battlefront — The exact same game for console is also available for PC. $80

Rainbow Six: Siege — The newest installment in the Rainbow Six series. Players work together to either defend, or capture a map objective. This game is a direct competitor to the Call of Duty franchise, but adds a few more unique options to deal with the enemy.  $80

Overwatch (Beta) — The only Blizzard Entertainment game on the list, Overwatch is a new style of team based shooter. Similar to the game “Team Fortress 2,” players use different character classes to complete map objectives (and kill members of the other team.) Currently in Beta, the game still has a few kinks to be worked out, but overall creates a new and unique team based shooter experience. $40

3DS

Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes — This new addition to the Legend of Zelda series, Tri Force Heroes, is a multiplayer puzzle game where up to 3 players have to cooperate to solve puzzles. The game can also be played solo, with the player controlling each character individually.   $40

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest (Pre-order) — The classic turn based strategy series is coming out with its next epic.  Players will work their way through a series of dungeons and epic quests, using cunning and strategy to defeat the enemy.     Pre-order prices vary based on location.

Shovel Knight — What was once an overnight hit on the PC has come to the 3DS. Shovel Knights is a unique 2D puzzle platformer in which the hero much make it to the end of the stage. Throughout the game, the player will customize their hero, while defeating all the monsters that stand in their way. $25

Special Mentions

Every year, the app and online gaming program Steam puts together a holiday sale where gamers can pick up exciting games for cheap. This sale usually starts about Dec. 20 and runs till January. The deals are numerous and offer Steam rewards with each purchase.
