Rob Ford was “very true to himself and his principles”, Mayor John Tory said.
Tory spoke with media following the news that the former mayor and Ward 2 councillor had died at the age of 46 after fighting a rare cancer.

“(Rob Ford) was above all else a profoundly human guy, and he will be missed,” Tory said.
Ford was diagnosed with liposarcoma in 2013.
“To achieve what he did in 46 far-too-short years I think is something that is a powerful story to be told in the years to come,” Tory said.
A book has been set up at City Hall for Torontonians to express their condolences to the Ford family and commemorate his life.
