A woman was found dead after an assault was reported from an East York apartment building on Thursday.

An assault was reported in the apartment building on Dawes Road near Beth Street at about 8:30 a.m. Toronto police responded and found a woman with no vital signs.

A man has been placed in police custody following the deadly assault. No information regarding the man’s connection with the victim has been released.

“We won’t release any information about how the person is related until we get word from homicide,” Const. Craig Brister said. “We are too early in the game.”

As well, there is no further information regarding cause of death, other than an assault on the woman.

“We won’t guess at cause of death. We won’t say the cause of death until they go for a post-mortem examination,” Brister said.
