A minivan rolled over on its side after hitting a traffic pole, a light post and a concrete plant at 2:40 a.m. on Saturday on Danforth Avenue at East Lynn Avenue.

Police said the passers-by helped flip the vehicle from its side as the people in the vehicle were stuck. However, the driver took off and was last seen running eastbound.

Scott Mackie, a resident who lives nearby said he heard a loud bang when the car struck the pole. “At least they didn’t wake my kid up,” Mackie said.

Although Mackie didn’t witness the collision, his neighbour told him what had happened.

“They missed the first pole, they hit the second one and took it with them as they drove, then they ran over the bike pole, flattened that and they hit the tree stand and that’s what flipped the van over on the side,” Mackie said.
