We’ve all seen them in our elementary school history classes at least once. Heritage Minutes have been educating the public for over 20 years through short video reenactments that shed a light on significant events, stories and people who have shaped Canada’s history.
On Tuesday, the Minutes creators, the non-profit organization Historica Canada, premiered a new short video based on the highly successful women’s basketball team, the Edmonton Grads, at The Gladstone Hotel.
The video came just in time for International Women’s Day.
“[We] organized this event to shed a light on these amazing women but to also cover a part of history that no one really talks about,”said Davida Aronovitch, managing editor of Historica Canada.
The video launched as a way for Heritage Minutes to re-emerge from a seven-year hiatus and cast a lens on Canadian content they have not previously covered.
The event was accompanied by a trivia night, which challenged hardcore Minutes fans and put their knowledge to the test.
