A man is facing seven charges after two officers were injured on Nov. 21, while responding to an assault call in East York.

Police were called to Dawes Road and Gower Street, west of Victoria Park Avenue, around 4 p.m.

Const. Craig Brister, spokesperson for Toronto Police Service, said a man attacked a woman, fled from the scene, and returned shortly after. Officers proceeded to search the area on foot and located the suspect.

Both officers tried to speak with the man, which resulted in a fight.

The injuries to the officers were non-life threatening.

One officer suffered from puncture wounds and lacerations, while the other suffered minor injuries to the body, Brister said.

Both officers were taken to hospital, where they were treated and released.

The man also faced injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The man is facing three counts of assault, uttering death threats, weapons dangerous and attempted murder.
