There’s nothing like grabbing your friends and family for a day of skating at the rink.

Some ice rinks are found outdoors in parks and some are inside in arenas.

What kind of rink and which services you’ll be wanting can depend on your skating needs.

If you’re still learning to skate, don’t fret, there are great options for you right in your neighbourhood.

  1. Dieppe Park’s Skating Rink and Arena
This rink is perfect for those looking for an hour or two of outdoor skating. Great for parents who want to bring their kids to a less crowded rink for practice skating.
  2.  East York Skating Club
Offers CanSkate and StarSkate programs taught by Canadian professional skating coaches. It’s the place to go if you’re serious about improving your skating abilities.
  3. East York Memorial Arena
This rink offers great preschool skating programs. Its space doubles up as a place for both youth and adults to play hockey.
  4. Leaside Skating Club
This club offers people three types of skating programs; KinderSkate, CanSkate, and StarSkate. The first two focus on skating basics and training. The StarSkate is for those interested in learning to figure skate.
  5. Ted Reeve Community Arena
Named after the Canadian athlete, Ted Reeve, this rink is great for those wanting to play hockey or even take up some skating lessons. For pleasure skating, the arena is open from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. every Sunday.
  6. Evergreen Brick Works Rink
Unfortunately, this rink is closed for this season due to the construction of the historical kiln building. According to the Evergreen Brick Works website, the 53,000-square-foot area will make space for “collaboration spaces, learning centres, and exhibit galleries, while striving for a carbon neutrality.” In the meantime, the rink will not be available to the public.
