Man charged in North York convenience store robbery

Cashier fought with thief over merchandise

Police have arrested an 18-year-old Toronto man they believe is connected to a robbery in North York.

The accused has been charged with robbery while armed with a firearm.

Police say that on Jan. 18 at about 8:15 p.m. a man took items from a Wilson Avenue and Dufferin Street convenience store and fled without paying.

The cashier, who ran after the man, caught up with him and the two fought over the items before the man revealed a hand gun and prepared to shoot. The cashier retreated and the man fled, police say.

Josias Bruno, appeared in court on Jan. 25.
