Shooting investigation at Lawrence Square

Two arrests after mall shooting

Two men were repeatedly shot at Lawrence Square Shopping Centre at 700 Lawrence Ave. W. on Jan. 8.

It is alleged that a group of males was standing at the north entrance to Lawrence Square Shopping Centre when a boy approached and shot at them 10 times, police said.

A 27-year-old and 31-year-old man were each struck by one bullet and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the boy fled the scene in a nearby vehicle driven by his co-accused.

Members of the Street Violence Task Force executed two Criminal Code Search Warrants on Jan. 22.

It is further alleged that during the execution of these search warrants, clothing worn at the time of the shooting was recovered, police say.

A 16-year-old boy and Kimeron Grant, 21, were arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and various firearm offenses.

Grant is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28.

The 16-year-old boy cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
