ST. LEO, Fla. – For Bruce Preeschl, playing lacrosse for Saint Leo University can be extremely intense and demanding, especially if your professional dreams are great.

Preeschl tries hard to handle the challenge of completing his major in sports business while he plays for the Lions.

“It’s definitely challenging, because they ask so much of us, not just in the classroom, but out of the classroom, too,” Preeschl said Thursday, at the university’s lacrosse field.

“I’ve already worked with our strength and conditioning program, I’ve been in multiple projects doing halftime shows for basketball and women’s lacrosse, and I also handled projects about sports marketing and promotion.”

With all that work and all the worries regarding his studies, it can be tough to have time to focus on lacrosse. However, practicing the sport has also helped Preeschl off the field.

“It’s a lot easier to learn the sports business material being a college athlete, because we talk a lot about college athletics and all the rules and regulations behind it,” the Orlando, Fla., native said.

Preeschl came from Timber Creek High School and is currently in his senior year at Saint Leo´s. He is now focused on graduating and achieving his professional goals.

“My biggest goal right now is to get an internship to finish my degree. I finish all my courses by the end of this semester, but I have to finish the internship to technically officially graduate. Then, after that, I have no idea what’s going to happen,” he said, laughing.

“I still have to figure it out. Hopefully, my internship will put me in the right direction. I don’t know exactly where I want to go, but I’m looking for an internship in strength and conditioning.

“The dream job would be if I could work in strength and conditioning at the University of Southern California.”
