15-year-old boy arrested in recent East York stabbing

Man injured in neck, head near Secord and Newman avenues

Toronto police have charged a 15-year-old boy with attempted murder and robbery on Saturday after the stabbing of a 23-year-old man in East York.

The man was stabbed repeatedly in the neck and head near Secord and Newman avenues on March 7.

According to police, two males attacked the victim, who was later rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is currently in stable condition, police said.

Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said the victim knew at least one of his attackers.

“They weren’t strangers,” she said.

When asked about the timing of a stabbing at Coxwell and Cosburn avenues the week prior, Sidhu said they were isolated incidents. She emphasized the role of the community in these sorts of incidents.

“If anybody ever sees a situation where someone is being assaulted, immediately contact police.”

The boy charged is set to appear in court on April 18. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police are still searching for the second alleged attacker in the incident.
