Toronto police are asking the community to help them locate a man who escaped their custody in East York Thursday night.

Police have identified the man as Duarte Borges, 56.
Borges allegedly fled on foot from a medical facility at Coxwell Avenue and Mortimer Avenue, police said in a news release.
Police describe Borges as being 5-foot-5 and 140 pounds with a slim build. He is unshaven, with a slight mustache and grey hair. He was seen wearing a grey toque, black hoodie, black boots and tan shoes. He walks with a limp.
Police say Borges is not a risk to public safety. When contacted, they were unwilling to provide more information on the case.
Michael Garron Hospital, which is located at the intersection where Borges was last seen, also declined to comment.
